EXPLODE A MOMENT

The Boy in the Band

It was like stepping into a dream. In an instant, everything felt right from that day forward after it had felt wrong for so long.

When I was at my lowest, I took a chance to get out of the house in hopes of getting out of my head. My mind had been ever tangled in emotional turmoil after leaving its source of toxicity. So, I went to listen to some live music at the local small-town pub. That’s when I saw him… the boy in the band. His energy was magnetic. His voice was what soul was made of. And man… could he shred on the guitar.

With eyes locked on mine, he looked so damn fine. At first, I thought I was just imagining it, as I was sippin’ on sweet wine… (I can’t help but to rhyme when the moment was so poetic!) …But every chance he got, he stared. It’s like he could see right through me. And that was enough.

I stared right back- I couldn’t help it. The boy in the band was glowing. He performed effortlessly and looked iconic. I swooned over his stylish sways. His gaze alone was hypnotic. We both appeared to be so full of mystery, but it still somehow felt like we had known each other all this time.

Once the night ended, I was content. I was no longer numb, but I could feel. And that’s what mattered. I thought I was just connecting to the music, until the boy in the band ran after me to catch me heading out. “Wait! You can’t go without saying goodbye! I just want to wish you a wonderful rest of your night… I can’t let you leave without telling you that,” he said. That’s when I realized, this went deeper than a moment.

He invited me to see him again. And so, I did. Some months had passed, and I was feeling free. That next time I got to see him play, everything fell into place as if our lives were made of movie magic. The night consisted of “you’re beautiful,” living out rockstar fantasies while dancing back-to-back as he played on his guitar, and, to top it all off, a rather flirty “you can call me, ya know…” Fueled by liquid courage, I sent the boy in the band a message upon leaving; “you sing some big talk, but you play coy, boy! My # is… if you want to practice what you preach.” Now, as they say… the rest is history.

Just for Fun- Here's a cheesy poem we wrote together on the story of how we met:

Once upon a time

In a tiny, lonesome pub

A beautiful guitar player

Locked eyes with a gorgeous dove

They both could feel the spark

But neither said a word

The music was enough

For feelings to be heard

They met again in freedom

With dragonflies and wine

Tipsy, sunken spirits

Seeking out sweet signs

It started with a tease

And a chase out the door

Although she wasn’t waiting

He rushed across the floor

He told her she could call

She said he could, too

All it took was flirty banter

For gentle love to bloom

Cheesy Valentines

Hours on the phone

The first date was like magic

Passion set in stone

It’s only getting better

And stronger every day

No matter what we have to face

Together, we will stay
